Prior to co-founding Kura, Francisco was directly involved in Minera Escondida strategic development, working in major Cu-Au feasibility mining projects and geometallurgy. He also supported other BHP Billiton operations in Chile, working in hypogene ore processing R&D. His other interests include natural resource governance and sustainable development. Francisco holds Chem. Eng. from the University of Concepcion, Chile, and a M.Sc. Industry, Trade & Development from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
Prior to joining Kura, Thomas supervised over 25 exploration projects in Northern-Central Chile, Papua New Guinea and Mongolia with Anglo American. His expertise in hydrothermal and Cu (Mo – Au) porphyry related systems allowed him to advice on exploration strategies in South America, Africa and Oceania. Thomas holds Honours Degree in Geology from Universidad de Concepción, Chile and an MBA Global Management from Macquarie University (Australia) & Universidad de Chile (Chile).
Prior to joining Kura, Alvaro was the In-House Counsel for Freeport-McMoRan Inc. and Lundin Mining Corp. mining operations in Chile, to later join as an associate at the Energy, Mining and Natural Resources Group of Philippi, Prietocarrizosa, Ferrero DU & Uría Law Firm. He had also collaborated with the Projects, Energy and Natural Resources Group of King & Wood Mallesons, Australia. Alvaro holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Universidad de los Andes, Chile, and currently is an LL.M. Candidate at the University of Queensland, Australia.
Vicente is an adventurer field geologist who, beyond his daily activities as an Economic Geologist, has participated in many international and interdisciplinary scientific expeditions. He was a member of the Madre De Dios speleological expedition aiming to explore karstic caves and define the sedimentary facies in the island. He has been involved in pioneering geophysical studies by collaborating in the investigation of the magnetic anisotropy in the Nahuelbuta Cordillera. In the last years he has been dedicated to the study of magmatic-hydrothermal deposit models, their tectonic and structural controls and fluids dynamics in the upper crust. He has been in the forefront of GIS integration and 3D modeling of mineral deposits. Vicente is Geologist from the University of Concepcion, Chile
Laura is the London point of contact for Kura Minerals and heads up the PR & Marketing services. Prior to joining Kura, Laura lived in over ten countries across the Americas and Africa with Global Business Reports (GBR), directing production of in-depth reports for decision-makers on the local mining and energy sectors, as well as working with key stakeholders on their marketing campaigns and representing GBR and clients at mining conferences globally. Laura graduated from the University of Manchester with a First-Class BA Honours in Spanish and Distinction in Portuguese.
Prior to joining Kura, Javiera worked for 5 years at Televisión Nacional de Chile as a content journalist and reporter. After that, she made a turn towards advising in the strategic area in Clínica Las Condes, one of the most important hospitals in Chile. Now she leads the Marketing team of EasyWays Retail company. Javiera is a Journalist of the Universidad de Concepción, Diploma in Strategic Management of Digital Marketing from The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and a Diploma in Social Networks and Communication from The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
